I bought a red clay pot and i want to paint a design on it. What kind of paint would I use?

I see the ones from Mexico and they have a shine on them.

You can use acrylic craft paints and seal them with a glossy varnish after painting. If you intend to put plants in them, use a matte varnish on the pots before you paint them, then use the glossy varnish after. Use water-based varnishes (available at Michael's) so they won't be toxic to your plants.
